It seems that there's quite a bit of talk about aliens in the media these days. The military addressing congress about Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon for example strikes me as surprising. But today I saw this article: China Says It May Have Detected Signals From Alien Civilizations. Now this intrigues me. "The suspicious signals could, however, also be some kind of radio interference and requires further investigation..." This sort of blows my mind. How is it that they're making this sort of announcement in the media and in the next breath saying they're not sure yet. I would just assume they were extremely confident before saying a word to the media. Makes me wonder what's going on here. Is this just grandstanding from a group that is merely seeing what they want to see? Or is this really a reputable scientist that knows full well what it means to make these claims and is still willing to stake their reputation and career on what they've found?
It seems likely to me that someday we'll detect something out there. Maybe that day is now? I very much want to know more about this. Is it something worth getting excited about, or just another flash in the pan to be ignored?
